I love when wedding days throw their own stamp on proceedings and I really don’t know where to start with this one, it kept throwing up unexpected moments and gems. After spending 10 minutes at Emily’s home it quickly became clear that 1. music was close to her heart, 2. her playlist for the morning was off the chain, and 3. I really need to figure out how to be cool again. I knew Paul already from way back in UCC days, back when I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore #simpsonswisdom. Having been a member (at the time) of least 3 bands (that number has grown btw) it can be no surprise to anyone that Emily and Paul would find their way to each others lives.
Now, Emily and Paul had given me the locations of the ceremony, drinks reception, and hotel all in advance, but what they never mentioned was that the church was going to be host to a civil ceremony, not a “church” ceremony. “Very cool” I thought. Not only that but their wedding was going to be the first wedding in the church in over 50 years! Never mind Instagram or Facebook… we’re talking Bebo days here. To make things even more awesmazing (it’s a word… well it should be), following through on their passion for music, their friends and family were providing all the music through the ceremony! It all added up to just the loveliest, inclusive ceremony that echoed who Emily and Paul are as people and as a couple. From there it was food and drinks in local, before heading to Lough Gur (not Grrr) with Emily and Paul for walk and a couple of photos while we were at it. We had so much fun, we maaaaay have arrived at Castleoaks just in time for the dinner bell but a few quick family shots, some speeches, and some Ireland’s Got Talent in the form of Paul’s dad later and grub was up.
Congrats Paul and Emily, it was a wonderful day that really took it’s own course and I enjoyed it all the way. Also, happy anniversary to your parents Paul! Between you and your Dad ye’ll surely never forget an anniversary :)
Oh also, a dog presented Emily with a “best wishes on your marraige” rabbit before heading off to the ceremony… that was nice :)
