For the second blog in a row I’m returning to a venue! The first time around in the Set Theatre (not even two years ago) was my second ever wedding so I was excited to return to the site of one of the weddings that set me off on this journey as a wedding photographer. Added bonus: Lisa and Wayne were guests! Just like old times :p

When I think back now about Ann and Patrick what jumps into my head is that old saying “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. That’s what they are. I had a perfectly enjoyable morning, flitting between them at the hotel. Bubbles were offered, tea was drank, and I found a short cut between the rooms that avoided 3 flights of stairs! It was a lovely, smooth morning with two chilled out people. The change that happened as soon as they were in sight of each other though… giddy… pure unfiltered giddiness. If ever there’s been a couple that are just keen on enjoying life together with their family, it’s these two. The Set could have fallen down around them and they’d still be looking at each other grinning ear to ear. At one point in the late afternoon, Patrick turned to me and said how sore his jaw was from smiling so much. Like I said, together they were just more.

Soon after I arrived, Ann mentioned to me that they had a magician booked and to make sure I got a few shots of him. Honestly, I was expecting something for the kids with some baloons and a dissapearing coin trick. How wrong I was. I’ve had to hold back on the number of photos involving Andy below (yes, this is me holding back) but I think you can get a sense of how much of a hit he was. I kept having to remind myself that I was ‘on the clock’ so to speak, to stop watching the show, and get on doing my job! He was sooo good… at one point when chatting to the happy couple, he started asking them and some nearby guests for random numbers… including yours truely. He then pulled out a Lotto ticket dated a year back with those exact numbers… INCLUDING MINE! I mean, I’m not even a guest, I’m the wedding photographer! How does that even?? Get out of my head! :p

To Ann and Patrick and your three beautiful children, congratulations again and thanks so much for inviting me to be part of your day.
