Kenmare to Killarney: MS Ireland Charity Walk
Oct 12, 2015
Phew, a marathon day. Sunday’s aren’t supposed to start at 6:30am but this one did. And what was it that had Mary and I up so early? A trip to a spa? An early flight to some warmer climate? Nope, we were off (with a cheery group of EMC’ers) to walk 18km from Kenmare to Killarney in support of MS Ireland. So, off we went to EMC Ovens to catch the bus, but first a group shot… Mary’s now an honorary EMC member and her badge should be in the post any day now :)
The walk itself, while resulting in sore feet and tired bodies was stunning. The early morning mist floating through the hills was eerily calm, threatening to swallow up my company whenever I stopped to take a snap. It soon cleared though and turned into a beautiful day treking through the national park (no deer were sighted… but they were heard).
About 4 hours after we set off, it was a quick refuel at the Gleneagles hotel of soup and sambos and we were off again to Cork. A second refuel was needed and hey, Langford Row just opened up down the road so there was nothing else for it but some coffee and cake while blitzing through the photos :)
Thanks to EMC and MS Ireland for organising a great day. If anyone wants more info on MS Ireland (south), here’s the link… http://www.mssouthkerry.com/
