I’m gonna start this off with one word. Wow! Tucked away on a small island in West Cork, Micheál and Timmy exchanged vows, laughed with friends and banned each other from Instagram, in what must be one of Cork’s best kept secrets. This Inish Beg wedding had it all. A ceremony on a island inside an island (there’s an Inception joke there somewhere). Titus, the resident dog. A bamboo forest!! Cocktails in a stunning walled garden. A marquee in a forest. I could go on. Seriously, I called out here early to have a nose around and scope out a few spots for photos and I was just blown away.
Of course, a wedding is nothing without a fantastic couple at the center of it all. Planned all the way from home in Boston, Micheál and Timmy spent their afternoon in the run up to the ceremony making sure this was going to be the perfect day, not just for them but for their friends and family. Happy with it all and with guests trickling in, we headed off for a few photos before Danny (closest of friends and celebrant) joined us to go down to the island in an island. There’s so much to say about that ceremony but I’ll just highlight two… 1. Is there a more stunning setting to get married in?! 2. Danny’s speech/sermon was sheer perfection, it was so personal and touching had I to stop taking photos at times just to listen to the words he was saying.
After that, it was cocktails and a string quartet in the garden as the party vibe kicked up a notch. The guys from Raise the Bar even served me a tasty mocktail - the life of a wedding photographer is a tough one :p Another short stroll was on the cards soon after as we headed for the latest addition to Inish Beg, the marquee in the forest, some seriously good food and even more touching and personal speeches.
A joy to be a part of from start to finish, congratulations Micheál and Timmy, and thanks for sharing your day with me.
