Sarah & Damien
Abbey Hotel, Roscommon
Sep 30, 2020
I’m going to mention… IT… once and then leave it at that, because Sarah and Damien’s day rocked so much, and they had such a tremendous mentality of “we are getting married today in front of 2 people or 200” that IT is not the story of their day. IT has laid waste to so many couples plans for 2020 (and 2021) so, for me, Sarah and Damien’s wedding was just the tonic to get that wedding feeling back again. Here’s hoping that we’ll be seeing more and more days like this in the months to come.
It’s good to be back, and even better to be back with with such an amazing couple. You always know you’re in for a fun day when there’s a dedicated musical instrument corner in the house. Spoiler, father of bride penned and performed his own song for the speeches (to the tune of Galway Girl of course). It was one of the best “Dad moments” I’ve witnessed in my time as a wedding photographer, and between the tears of laughter told the history of Sarah and Damien.
Laughter was a big part of the day too with Sarah’s laugh as irrepressible as it is contagious (an R0 of 50 I’d say… sorry… terrible pun). Start to finish, the smile never left her face and a mere glance from her sister, Marie, was enough to set her off. It was the same story with Damien, as the two together just mirror bounced off each other in the way that makes my job a breeze. They picked the beautiful settting of Urlaur Abbey for their photos with family, bridal party, a couple of dogs, some attacking bees, and a bat (though only Sarah claims to have seen the bat).
I just want to thank Sarah and Damien for being the perfect restart to 2020. Thanks for welcoming in to your home, and having me tag along for the day. I’ll shut up now and let you enjoy the photos below :)
