So, being based down in East Cork, I’ve got a Cork wedding venue “bucket list” I’m trying to get through. When Pio and Ian contacted me and mentioned the Maryborough, one of the top places on that list got struck off. What a great venue, the Orangery where the ceremony and drinks reception took place is just amazeballs. The weather wasn’t exactly beach-ware friendly on the day but that didn’t matter, the inside was a dream to shoot in. I’ll get to go out in the grounds at the next wedding ;)
Anyway, enough about the venue… which btw has probably the coolest wedding suite I’ve been in to date… Pio and Ian! Two nicer gents you will not meet, not to mention two cool and relaxed grooms. We met up for a coffee a few weeks prior and I’m pretty sure I spent most of the time taking about my then 2 month old daughter. It’s so great to have couples that you just click with and the guys were a breeze. Plus they bought me coffee so… yay!
Speaking of my little girl though… this was my first wedding since she was born and it hit home to me over the course of the day what happened in Ireland almost two years ago. It wasn’t lost on me listening to the speeches that Ruby gets to grow up now in a country where no matter what she chooses, if she wants to marry, she won’t have to make a poster to fight for it. That’s kinda amazeballs too :)
Thank you Ian and Pio for inviting me to shoot your day. Wishing you both all the best in your lives together.
