So many hugs, so many laughs, so many air miles… that’s right it’s destination wedding time! In my second venture beyond Irish borders to shoot a wedding, I’ve jetted off to Lisbon… more specifically, Quinta Da Bichinha, where Niamh and Cormac invited close family and friends to celebrate their wedding in a truely unique and stunning setting. I’m not even going to go into why I was excited for this wedding. I think it’s obvious. Portugal and an awesome couple.
I don’t say that lightly either, Niamh and Cormac were everything I could want in a couple, not just to shoot, but to hang out with. They are slightly mad but in a way that is completely in sync with other. There was next to no direction in my photos with them, everything below is all them. Niamh just can’t stop laughing, enjoying every moment as her superhero husband (Spiderman or Superman, you decide) parades around like the cat who got the cream. Their families too were a joy to be around, with everyone generally enjoying some fine weather and the mountains of food and beverages provide by Quinta Da Bichinha.
What a day though. Starting out in the heart of Lisbon with Niamh, and catching up with Cormac in the coolest damn barbershop (Figaro’s) for a hot towel shave, before heading off with Niamh to Quinta Da Bichinha, tucked away in the countryside about 40 minutes from Lisbon. The venue was nothing short of stunning. The tree alone!! THAT tree. And the cottage. Heaven. I have to say I loved the shed where we took some of the bridal party photos. Unassuming but perfect.
Thank you Niamh and Cormac for taking me on this journey with you. Ye were amazing, your families were amazing, everything about your day was amazing… except for the taxi driver for whom lines on the road were more of a casual suggestion, rather than something not to be crossed.
I have to also give a special thank you too to the owner of Quinta Da Bichinha, as he came to my rescue the following morning. Having discovered my 07:30 taxi had been nabbed by someone else in a case of “I thought that was my taxi”, and me being a good 40 minutes away from Lisbon, I am so grateful for him to have gotten me to the airport on time for my flight. Obrigado.
