Elaine & Kyle
Careys Manor
Jul 10, 2016
Right, I’ve written this one about 100 times in my head and I’m still not quite sure how to do justice to such a happy, genuine, welcoming couple. For a start, I’ve known Elaine for over a decade now, an instant favourite of Mary’s friends (sorry Ciara, Dyane, Sarah, it’s true). Kyle arrived on the scene some years ago to unanimous approval, and it was obvious to all that they were only ever destined to walk down the aisle together. Less obvious was the fact that I would be their wedding photographer but I believe that was also met with unanimous approval ;)
When Elaine and Kyle asked me to be their wedding photographer, I think the thing that hit me the most was what an honour it was to capture the photos they will always look back on. I knew this was going to be a “totes emotes” day but to give you a sense of how just how emotionally charged this wedding was… post speeches, I strolled out to the garden adjoining the dining room to find two of Elaine’s friends in tears over Kyle’s touching speech… closely followed by my own wife, also in tears. The only reason I can come up with to explain why I was left relatively unscathed by what was “the speech to end all groom’s speeches” was that spending the morning in the company of Elaine, Kyle, their families and friends, spoiled me and I wasn’t really able to take in any more.
The day itself was a treat. Despite the sporadic downpouring of rain, Carey’s Manor was a stunning setting and with the gathering of close knit friends and family it was brimming with excitment. In the middle of it all was Elaine and Kyle who seemed to just float around in total calm and happiness. Ok, there was one moment of mild panic when the rings dissapeared but fortunately the note indicating their new location wasn’t too well hidden and calm was restored.
