Aoife & Killian
Dec 5, 2019
Sound the bells! It’s a Cork wedding! And not just Cork but East Cork! Garryvoe to be exact. 2019 has oddly been a year of weddings anywhere but within a 1 hour radius from my home so yes, I enjoyed the 10 minute drive home at the end of this one :) It also marked my first Garryvoe Hotel wedding. The first of many I hope, what a fantastic hotel. Our daughter’s Christening was there so I was itching to get in to that library/lounge for some great reception shots. As soon as Aoife and Killian booked me for their day, I knew the shot I wanted on those couches… you’ll see it waaaay down below (this is a big one).
It’s not all about the hotel though, Garryvoe beach with Ballycotton lighthouse as a backdrop is gorgeous. Hats off to Aoife and the bridesmaids in particular for braving the cold to get down there. Well worth the walk. I would have been gutted not to get down there TBH, so I was delighted that Aoife and Killian were totally game for it. Sorry to sound like a broken record at this point, but they were another awesome couple to spend the day with. They are the yin to each others yang. Aoife is unfiltered happiness and joy, reflected in the morning at her home and throughout the day as she greated and welcomed people with the same energy all day. Killian’s more measured manner is the calm that completes the puzzle, and when they are together and they just spark off each other.
The whole day was a treat, but all hail the Father of the Bride speech. I’ve heard many speeches at this point over many years. Some of them get me, especially since having a daughter of my own it all sort of hits home a bit more. Aoife’s Dad had such a moment in his speech… I’m paraphrasing (and not doing it justice) but I’ve loved this…
We became father and daughter through blood, we became best friends through love.
Aoife… listen back to your video, transcribe that (properly) and print it. Also I’d love to know the correct phrasing :)
Aoife and Killian thank you so much for having me along for the day. It was a blast from start to finish. Wishing you both a Happy Christmas as newlyweds and a wonderful New Year!
