Anne-Marie & David
Castlemartyr Resort
Feb 1, 2021
Thank Crunchie it’s February. Kicking off a fresh month with an utterly brilliant day in the sunny south east. Ok, it was December so it was more windy than sunny but we still got to the beach. Bonus points too for the venue being on my own backdoor in beautiful Castlemartyr Resort. I even made it home during the meal to help put the kids to bed #multitasking
Times are crazy but weddings like this are zen for the mind. Kicking off with David and his family in Castlemartyr Resort, where the biggest drama was the dreaded boutonnieres (seriously, if someone can patent a better way to do this, they’d be set for life). Boutonnieres in place, some bubbles and a stretch of the legs in the gardens eased us in to the day. Over to Anne-Marie in Youghal and it was another family affair, house in full Christmas mode.
When we’d met to chat about the plan for the photos, Anne-Marie and David basically gave me a bucket list of places they wanted to go. I’ve shot at the promenade in Youghal before but there’s one shot I never tried that I’d been itching to get up there again to get. Anne-Marie and David were the right couple for the job. I just said “walk”, and a short sprint later (wedding photography, if nothing else, keeps you fit) I was in position. With wind and distance between us, and no foresight to give any instruction other than “walk”, they somehow figured out my mimed signals and we nailed it. As I said… zen. Anyway, we had a blast touring around Youghal, stopped some traffic by the clock tower, and even snuck out for a few more back in Castlemartyr Resort.
Anne-Marie and David, thank you both so much for having me shoot your day. You were both a chill as can be, and that’s saying something after the year that has been. When this whole COVID thing ends, we need to meet up so I can give ye a proper hug.
