Austin Texas
Sep 29, 2018
Short and sweet post today. I happened to be in Austin, Texas (quite briefly) earlier this month. I knew I’d be fairly limited with time to wander around and get some snaps but I packed my x100f anyway. Austin is distinctly American. It’s big, the cars are big, the food is big, the buildings are… big. What I learned walking around is that there is a reason for all those electric scooters littering the streets, it’s not an easy city to walk around. The capitol building is cool, and the tour was more interesting than I thought it’d be (also who doesn’t love following up the guy who travelled ALL the way from San Fran with “oh I’m from Ireland”). Where the city really shines is in the people (super friendly as one would expect in America), the food, and the music. Mexican food and giant hot-dogs aren’t exactly top billing for foods I enjoy but Austin puts out some tasty grub. Rainey Street is a must visit, lined with truely unique bars all competing to have the biggest, bestest live band playing while customers dig into good food and better beer. Anyway, here’s some photos from my aimless walking around the city (well not entirely aimless, I was generally heading up towards the capitol building). The view from my hotel room was pretty awesome too.
