16 for 2016 | The Personal Stuff

So… about 2016…

Globally… just about as bad as it gets.

Personally… new home, new baby, new camera (is it wrong that the camera is up there with Ruby?)

It all kicked off right at the start of 2016 as our deal closed on our new home in Castlemartyr. This meant leaving behind our home of 5 years in Cork City, the house that was 10 minutes away from two of our favourite cafes, the door Mary walked out of in her wedding dress. One door closes and another opens though and we’ve made a new home with new memories and new cafes in East Cork. At the same time as this was going on, my brother and his fiancee (now wife) moved down to Cork meaning I was no longer 3 hours in a car away from a blood relative!

Of course we then had our news that we had a baby on the way and pretty much most of the rest of the year was focused on two things… the impending arrival of BB1, and Matt and Noreen’s wedding - I left the camera behind for that one :p

It wasn’t all happy days though. In June I shot the wedding that… if there was a reason behind my getting into wedding photography, it was for this. Is there any better way to spend your last day with a friend than to have a front row seat to her wedding and know how much happiness she and her husband will get from the photos you take. It is something I will always be grateful I was able to do for them and was the perfect way to remember Elaine… at her happiest… and she was one happy person.

The door we left behind... sort of... Matt lives there now and we visit occasionally

Going for walks in beautiful East Cork no longer means driving for half an hour first

Those eyes! BFFs Paul and Shirley had their own addition to the family in 2016

Me and wifey on one of the many aforementioned walks. It gets windy in Garryvoe sometimes

In fairness, they had just spent the previous few hours building a fort outside

No, this is not Garryvoe beach. It was however a great holiday with the extended family
